DAMON WARNS F1 OVER FANS
Damon Hill reckons that the farcical events in F1 this season are an insult to fans. The 1996 world champion has rounded on Ferrari for manipulating the results in Austria and the USA. He reckons that Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello’s finish-line antics have been a "public relations disaster" for the sport and warned that teams should not play TV viewers for fools."The more coverage there is of F1, the more educated the audience becomes and the more they expect and the less easy it is to hoodwink the viewers". Hill said Ferrari’s domination after 20 years in the wilderness should have boosted the sport’s popularity – but it has had the opposite effect.
